24 Week Update & Name Reveal

As of Wednesday, we were officially 24 weeks pregnant!   It’s still so surreal to me but is becoming more real each day.

For those of you that don’t know, 24 weeks is the first huge milestone in pregnancy.  It is the threshold of viability.  Meaning that for whatever reason, if they were to be born this early, they have a good chance of survival.   Obviously we want them to be born as close to full-term as possible, however I have to admit this gives me some peace of mind.

Jayson and I have started getting the nursery ready.  We have both cribs put together and our rocker was delivered last month.  We have slowly been getting some clothes – usually when I think they are too cute to pass up.  Girl clothes are so fun!  We also ordered their names from an Etsy store and they should be delivered today.  I’m pretty excited to see them and get them hung up in the nursery.  I’m shooting for a coral pink, navy, gold and mint color scheme.  I’m hoping it all comes together like the vision in my head.

I have also gotten our registry completed.  I have spent a lot of time reading blogs from twin moms to see what it is that I need, what I can do without, what I can get by with one of and what I would definitely need two of.  It was a bit overwhelming but I feel like I have learned a lot through the process as well.  If any of you moms have suggestions on “must have” items, please feel free to share!

For any of you that are going to start a registry soon, or know someone that is, I highly recommend babylist.com.   This is where I did our registry.  It allows you to add items from any store onto one registry.  Makes it easier to keep track of and you don’t have to manage multiple registries that way either.

As for how I’m feeling, I’m starting to have trouble sleeping which makes for some very tired days, but I really can’t complain.  These girls are truly a blessing so if it means I’m uncomfortable, I’ll take it :).

I do have a lot more sonograms than the average single pregnancy just to check and make sure both girls are growing and measuring on track.  We had an appointment and sonogram yesterday and got to see them.  Our last sonogram was at 18 weeks so it was crazy to see how much they have grown since then.  They were both moving around like crazy and making it a little challenging for the sono tech to get all the images she needed.  They both look great and are both weighing around a pound and a half and are right on schedule at 24 weeks.

WE HAVE NAMES!!  Jayson and I debated for awhile whether or not to share them yet, however we ultimately decided we were too excited to keep them a secret.  Ha ha!

Baby A is named Marlee Jean Emig.   Marlee is named after Jayson’s mom, Sandra Jean, who we lost a couple of years ago.  We have known ever since she passed that if we ever had a girl, we wanted her name to be represented somehow.

Baby B is named Kynlee Rae Emig.  Jayson and I both have the middle name of Rae (Ray for Jayson) and thought it would be fun and meaningful to pass the name on to one of our children as well.

Below are pictures from our sono yesterday.   On the picture of Marlee, she is looking up and next to her is the top of Kynlee’s head.  Kynlee is on top with her head on my right side and her feet on my left side (laying sideways).  Marlee is below Kynlee with her head next to Kynlee and her feet below her (she is breech).

The quote on the top is a reminder to all of you that are still waiting for your miracle.  All I can say is don’t give up.  I know the road is long and exhausting but it’s so worth it.  When I think of our twins, I always think of the quote, “If you saw the size of the blessing coming, you would understand the magnitude of the battle you are fighting.”  You all continue to be in my prayers! 💗

With love,

Haley
