Gender Reveal

Where has the time gone?  I can’t believe that on Wednesday we will be 19 weeks along.  I have to admit, I have spent most of this pregnancy not really believing that this is actually happening!  I spotted from 5.5 weeks until just about 11 weeks.   It had stopped at that point and everything was looking good.  I started to relax a little and then the morning I turned 14 weeks, I woke up to more spotting.  I immediately called the doctor’s office and they had me come in and meet with the midwife since my doctor wasn’t in the office.   She was able to find both heartbeats but wanted me to come back in a couple of days for a sono to make sure there weren’t other issues.
We went in for our sono and found out that I had what is called a subchronic hematoba.  This is basically a pool of blood in the uterus and mine happened to be right below baby A.  The sono tech said that it would explain my spotting.  A lot of times the body tries to heal itself and either absorbs the blood or you spot.  I felt a little better after that sono knowing my body was trying to take care of it.  Then I received a call from the nurse stating that my doctor wanted me to repeat the sono in a week as there were cervical concerns.
My first mistake is I googled what that could mean and things were popping up like miscarriage, pre-term labor, etc.  I spent that entire week trying to act like it was all okay because other than the spotting, I didn’t have any of the other symptoms.  However, it constantly was in the back of mind and that week of waiting for the next sono was torture.  Needless to say that I didn’t have any cervical issues and all was well.  My doctor was just being proactive to make sure that there weren’t any issues.  My spotting finally stopped shortly after 16 weeks.
Here we are today and we found out our babies gender.  SO SURREAL!!!  Jayson and I decided not to find out in the room and wait until later in the day to find out with some family and friends with smoke bombs.  It was torture waiting the entire day but so worth the wait!
