Saying Goodbye to 2016

With today being the last day of 2016, I have been reflecting a lot today on the year.  It’s been extremely hard and probably the hardest year that Jayson and I have ever had in our lives.  We continued down the road of infertility with high hopes of being pregnant this year and possibly even having our baby, however we ended up spending thousands of dollars and having three of our four miscarriages – all in one year.

Would I go back and change things – no, I don’t think I would.  Although it was a financial, emotional and physical struggle, we did what we needed to do in order to one day look back and know that we gave it all we had and won’t have to say, “what if”?

I think back and wonder how we survived the year.  I am quickly reminded that we wouldn’t have survived if it wasn’t for our faith in God.  He is the one that helped us through the difficult times and continues to give us hope for the future.

Don’t get me wrong, I have had some very hard days where I struggle and wonder if God will ever grant us the desires of our hearts.  I quickly remind myself that God is the one that placed these desires in our hearts.  This verse is perfect to read when you’re having those weak moments:

He is always with us and knows the plans for our future far before we do.  One thing that I have definitely come to accept is that my timing isn’t always God’s timing.  I may want it now but God has other plans for Jayson and I and I have no doubts that His plans are far greater than anything I could think of.

As we get ready to step into 2017 in a few hours, I want you to hold your head high and think of all that you have accomplished and overcome over the past year.  Has it been hard?  Yes, no doubt about it.  Have you shed many tears?  If you’re like me, then you have filled buckets full!  One thing is for certain is that through it all, you survived and came out stronger than before.  Your blessing, one way or another, is on the way and it will be so worth the wait.  I leave you in 2016 with one of my favorite quotes:

Happy new year and God bless you.  May all your dreams come true in 2017.

With love,
Haley
