We had our appointment yesterday for the thaw and fertilization of the six eggs. I have to say it was very odd for me to not really have anything for this appointment. When we were doing IVF, the fertilization day was also my egg retrieval so I was in surgery. This time was quite easy and painless.
We had to wait over 24 hours before we finally got a report from KU med. Talk about torture, especially for people like me who aren’t very patient. It was so hard waiting and wondering how things were going.
I finally got the call and they told me that all six eggs survived the thaw and of those six, five fertilized normally. Jayson had said to me last night that he hoped we had at least five of the six!
My nurse from Wichita called me shortly after I received the call from KU. She stated that things would be silent until this weekend and then she would contact me to let me know the appointment time and plan for Monday.
I am currently on three estrogen pills a day, four steroid pills, two antibitocis, baby aspirin and a progesterone shot. To be honest, I feel like a hot mess. Mood swings. nausea, hot flashes and exhaustion is my life right now, however I know that it will all be worth it.
Please continue to pray for our five remaining embryos that they can continue to develop and that we have a successful transfer on Monday. We appreciate you all more than we can ever express!!
With love,
Haley
